Extensions is a journal of the Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center located at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Extensions focuses on issues related to the U.S. Congress and public policy. First published in 1982, the journal is approaching its fortieth anniversary of bringing the work of congressional scholars to bear on contemporary issues in a format that is engaging and accessible to a wide audience of practitioners, policymakers, scholars and the public.
Historically, most issues feature three substantive articles on a related topic, with the balance of the issue focusing on News and Events from the center and its people. In 2019, the journal migrated from its long-standing pattern of biennial print issues to a fully-online digital format that will expand the journal’s reach and online presence. Previous issues of Extensions may be accessed online here.
Professor Charles J. Finocchiaro, Associate Director of the Carl Albert Center, serves as the editor in chief of Extensions. Katherine McRae, Director of Administration, serves as managing editor. John Stewart, Assistant Director of OU’s Office of Digital Learning, designed the web platform for the digital journal.
